Based on G.O.Ms. No.53 dated June 11, 2021, the revised House Rent Allowance (HRA) rates for Telangana State Government employees are as follows:
- 24% of Basic Pay: For Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (where the population is more than 50 Lakhs).
- 17% of Basic Pay: For cities with a population of more than 2 Lakhs, including Karimnagar, Khammam, Mahaboobnagar, Nizamabad, Ramagundam, and Warangal.
- 13% of Basic Pay: For towns with a population between 50,000 and 2 Lakhs, such as Adilabad, Siddipet, Nalgonda, Sangareddy, and others listed in the order.
- 11% of Basic Pay: For all other places, including specific district headquarters with a population of less than 50,000 (e.g., Mulugu, Medak, Asifabad).
- No Ceiling: There is no ceiling limit on these HRA rates.
- Future Increases: Rates will increase to 27%, 18.5%, 14%, and 11.5%, respectively, if the Dearness Allowance (DA) exceeds 50% of the basic pay.
- Periphery Rule: Existing rules allowing these rates for places within an 8 KM periphery of the specified towns/cities continue to apply.
- Effective Date: These orders came into force effective April 1, 2020.
- Exclusions: These rates do not apply to employees who chose to remain in the 2015 Revised Pay Scales, All India Services Officers, or university/aided college teachers drawing pay in UGC/ICAR/AICTE scales.
